AI Under the Microscope: A Successful Premiere at “Polyedro” in Patras

Patras enthusiastically welcomed the start of an ambitious new cycle of discussions titled “Logos and Algorithm: Dialogues on Humanity, Artificial Intelligence, and the Future.” The first meeting took place on Thursday, April 16, in the packed garden of Polyedro, Patras, proving that the public is seeking meaningful answers to the challenges of the new digital era.

At the center of the inaugural event was the distinguished Academician and Professor Emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), George P. Chrousos. With his many years of experience in Pediatrics, Endocrinology, and the leadership of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, Mr. Chrousos analyzed the topic: Logos, Psyche, and Humanity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”

The discussion was successfully moderated by Marios Zafieropoulos (PhD candidate in Ancient Greek Philology and Philosophy at the University of Patras), who skillfully bridged classical thought with modern technology. The event delved into issues of mental health—such as how AI affects the human psyche and our quality of life—while simultaneously highlighting the role of science as a “navigator” in this new reality. Despite the concerns expressed, the prevailing conviction at the end was that humans and technology can coexist harmoniously.
