Professor George Chrousos Joins the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

With great honor, we announce the election of Professor George Chrousos, a distinguished Professor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as an Ordinary Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Academia Scientiarum et Artium Europaea).

Professor Chrousos was elected to Class II – Medicine, following a nomination by Professor John Ioannidis. The nomination was unanimously accepted by the Senate of the Academy on April 23, 2026.

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts, based in Salzburg, Austria, is one of the most prestigious scientific organizations in the world. It brings together approximately 1,900 leading scientists and artists, including 29 Nobel Laureates. The Academy’s mission focuses on:

• Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among distinguished scientists, artists, and governance representatives.

• Analyzing major societal challenges and resolving complex issues vital to the future of Europe.

• Advancing tolerance through the annual “Tolerance Prize.”

The official induction ceremony for new members will take place during the Academy’s Festive Session on March 5 and 6, 2027, in Salzburg.

This election serves as a significant recognition of Professor Chrousos’s international prestige and scientific contributions, further strengthening the presence of the Greek academic community at the highest European level.
